A man came home from work and found his three children outside

When a dad arrived home from work, he discovered his three kids playing in the mud while still wearing their pajamas, and there were wrappers and empty food boxes all over the front yard.

Both the front door of the house and the door of his wife’s automobile were ajar, and the dog was nowhere to be found.

As he entered the doorway, he discovered an even larger mess. One wall had the throw rug wadded against it, and a lamp had been knocked over.

What Did You Do

Toys and clothes lay scattered around the family room, while the cartoon channel on the TV blared noisily in the front room.

There were dishes in the sink, breakfast food all over the counter, the fridge door ajar, dog food all over the floor, a shattered glass beneath the table, and a small mound of sand by the back door in the kitchen.

In a hurry, he ascended the stairs, navigating toys and more clothing heaps, in search of his spouse. He feared that she was sick, or that something significant had occurred.

A tiny trickle of water emerged from the bathroom door and met him. Looking inside, he discovered additional toys scattered all over the floor, along with wet towels and scummy soap.

There was toothpaste all over the walls and mirror, and a mound of toilet paper stretching miles in all directions.

His wife was still reading a novel while cuddled up in her pyjamas on the bed when he hurried to the bedroom.

Grinning, she glanced up at him and inquired about his day’s progress. “What happened here today?” he inquired, casting a puzzled glance at her.

She responded with a smile once more. “You know how every day you ask me what on earth I do all day when you get home from work?”

“Yes,” was his astonished response. In response, she said, “Well, I didn’t do it today.”
