I was overcome with feelings of betrayal and rage as the woman told me the startling truth. How was Max able to conceal such a significant secret? How could he tell me such a lie?

But I made the decision to hold him accountable, and to pay a heavy price, rather than letting him get away with it.

I decided to give Max a taste of my own medicine and turn the tables on him with my newly discovered resolve. I waited for the ideal opportunity to attack, and when it did, I made sure to hit him in the most painful spot.

I first called his parents and inquired about his dad’s alleged surgery while posing as a hospital staffer. They didn’t know what I was talking about, which surprised me. There was no need for surgery, and Max’s father was in excellent condition.

With this evidence in hand, I went up to Max, and his falsehoods fell apart in my face. However, I wasn’t finished yet. I had one last thing to do.

I made the decision to surprise Max by inviting his wife as well as all of our friends and relatives.

He had a magnificent expression of astonishment and fear on his face as he entered the room. I was quite satisfied as I watched him writhe.

Max ultimately had a taste of his own medicine, which is precisely what he deserved. For my part, I gained insight into the importance of not believing dishonest people. I’m going to be lot more selective about who I allow into my heart from now on.
