More than ever, a family in Minneapolis, North Carolina, is in need of our prayers and thoughts as they deal with an unfathomable tragedy.

In front of her husband Jamie and their 8-year-old son River, Melissa Guinn, a loving mother of four, was brutally carried away by the surging waters of Hurricane Helene.

Seeing how many people have been affected by the latest hurricanes in the US is incredibly tragic. The confluence of two devastating hurricanes, Helene and Milton, has resulted in the loss of many lives and the destruction of innumerable homes.

The Guinns took refuge in their Minneapolis, North Carolina, home on September 27, but Hurricane Helene would quickly destroy their life.

When the storm caused destructive mudslides, the family’s home, which overlooked a river, would prove to be a disastrous position. According to Fox News, the house started to fall as the storm grew stronger and tumbled down the mountain.

Melissa Guinn, a mother of four, was tragically carried away in front of her husband and their eight-year-old son, River.

It had the sound of a cannon firing. Jamie said WRAL, “I just remember being crushed by the house falling all around me.” And I vividly recall hearing my small boy wail as I screamed for him. I discovered him as we dug through the home where it had fallen nearly all the way to the river.

But there was no sign of Melissa. “Baby, watch out!” was the last thing she said, echoing across the confusion.

“I believe Mommy is gone, Dad.”
Jamie bravely and desperately threw River away from the crumbling house and onto a riverbed. However, Melissa was gone by the time they turned around.

“I couldn’t hear my wife anymore, so I rushed right behind my little boy and called out for her,” Jamie recalled.

“I think Mommy’s gone, Dad,” he replied, glancing at me.

Jamie claims that he heard his wife yelling from the location of their former house, but she then disappeared. The spouse worries that she was pulled into the river by another mudslide.

Unfortunately, the ordeal was far from over.

Jamie and River were forced to navigate through debris, rushing water, and mud for several hours to get help. Jamie himself was injured; he suffered a fractured spine and a laceration to his head.

Yet, the physical pain paled in comparison to the heartbreaking realization when he received confirmation of the unimaginable: his beloved wife and the mother of his children had been found dead. Her body was recovered by authorities on October 7— ten days after the tragic accident.

The couple was just weeks away from celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary.

A caring mother and a loyal wife

He remarked, “I don’t think I even comprehend anymore.” “As I process everything that happened, I feel like I’m still in a state of shock. I believe I’m simply bringing myself to acknowledge all that did occur.

Brandon, Sebastian, Ethan, and River are the four sons Melissa leaves behind; she was a wonderful mother and a loyal wife.

“She was the best friend I ever had.” Without her, I truly don’t know how I’m going to survive. We were together every day. She was involved in every action I took, just like everyone else,” Guinn told Fox News.
