None of us is likely to be able to accurately forecast the outcomes of our actions. Even if we seem to have the best of intentions, things eventually go awry.
Naturally, we can attempt to mend the relationship or make it humorous, but there are situations in which the outcome cannot be avoided.
For my birthday, my spouse got me shower gel. We didn’t have any money problems, so I was really annoyed—but I didn’t show it to him.
I verified that his business was doing well and that we had sufficient funds in our bank account for him to buy me a flower, at the very least.
I gave the gel a close inspection, and he could tell how much I hated the smell. I sobbed and flushed the gel down the toilet.
When my hubby came home, he was overjoyed and said, “Did you find it?” He had, as it turned out, inserted the ring inside the bottle cap. He hoped to take me by surprise. He so had to retrieve it himself from the bathroom.
