A recent college graduate talked candidly about the difficulties she had adjusting to a traditional nine-to-five work schedule in her first professional employment, which sent her into an emotional tornado. New Jerseyan Brielle openly discussed her challenges managing a life outside of her rigorous daily travel and long work hours.

Brielle disclosed in an emotional video that went viral, swiftly gaining over 1.5 million views, that she hardly had the time or energy to do simple self-care tasks like taking a shower or cooking when she got home from work. She made it clear that her worries were a reflection of the hard nature of the conventional 9–5 work pattern rather than being unique to her employment.

Many of the viewers, many of whom work in the marketing industry with Brielle, showered the video with encouragement. A shift to a four-day workweek was even suggested by some, highlighting the widespread struggle for work-life balance.

Brielle’s path to her current role involved five months of nonstop job searching and numerous applications submitted every day. She moved to New Jersey to accommodate her employment in New York; the sky-high rent in the metropolis was a major factor in her decision.

Brielle talked about her demanding work schedule while crying as she bemoaned the long journey to and from her job. She said, “I leave here and get on the train at like 7.30 am and I don’t get home until 6.15 pm earliest,” acknowledging that her life would be much easier if she lived close to her place of employment. I have no time to accomplish anything.

In a later video, Brielle disclosed to her about 118,800 TikTok followers that there were days when she didn’t get home until 7:30 p.m. “I want to take a shower, have dinner, and then turn in. Not only do I lack the time and energy to prepare my own dinner, but I also feel frustrated that I can’t make time for exercise a priority.
