Things took a terrifying turn when Louise noticed the sign and fled in terror as Edward tried to greet his wife Louise in an awkward way at the airport. Though intended to be humorous, the “I KNOW WHAT YOU DID” sign revealed a dark secret that Louise had been hiding from everyone.
Edward was abandoned, terrified and bewildered. He made an attempt to follow Louise, but security intervened. When he called, she didn’t pick up. Edward had to know what was going on, so he called Louise’s mother, Julie.
Unbelievably, Julie revealed to Louise that she underwent extensive plastic surgery to alter her appearance following graduation. She wanted to feel better about herself because she was self-conscious about having a cleft lip. However, there was more. In college, Louise fell in love with Edward, and she altered her appearance in hopes that he would notice her when they next crossed paths.
Edward felt the shock. He was also ignorant of Louise’s past experiences and emotions. He was eager to put things right, regretful, and numb.
Louise was crying when Edward found her when he arrived home. He told her that he loved her for who she was and not for the way she looked, and he really apologized.
For years, Louise had concealed the information out of fear of being turned down.
Edward really apologized and swore to always love her, which made them closer.
He made her breakfast in bed as a way to express his love, holding a fresh sign that read, “I LOVE YOU FOR YOU.” At last, Louise experienced love and acceptance for her true self.
As they held, Edward sensed that their love was deeper than before. He was appreciative of the abrupt turn of events that made it possible for him to learn the truth and grow to love Louise even more.
