A loose tobacco container that belonged to my great-grandfather is mine.
This design was probably bought in Portland, Oregon, and was created between 1906 and 1938.
I am certain that it is a Royal Doulton because the id number is within the proper range, the design fits, and the seal is accurate. To provide humidity, the original sponge—yes, a real marine sponge—remains in the cap. There is only the typical glazing cracking that occurs with things that are probably over a century old; there is no physical harm.
Nothing similar appears to be available on the mainstream websites, and Google also appears to be failing me.
Any ideas?
