A family catastrophe occurred, but I refused to call off my wedding.

Although family is meant to be there for us no matter what, there are moments in life when we face overwhelming challenges. Tragic events occurred as Leah’s wedding day drew near: her sister’s husband and son passed away just a few days prior to the event. Leah’s sister encouraged her to call off the wedding despite being in excruciating pain, but she decided to go forward. The event that followed was both devastating and fascinating. Leah shares her tale here.

Six days prior to my wedding, my sister’s spouse and their eight-year-old boy perished in an accident. She asked me to call it off, but I refused to give up my day. All of the expenses have already been covered. She didn’t say anything. My sister showed up in the throng on the big day as we were all dancing and laughing uncontrollably.

The music suddenly stopped and there was a loud noise as all of the lights in the party venue went out at once. I was horrified to see her husband’s and son’s pictures on the huge projection wall that held our wedding pictures. It dawned on me then that she had plotted to spoil my big day.

After that, my sister approached me from the stage, taking the microphone, and said, “You’re up here dancing and partying while your little nephew passed away less than a week ago.” Disgrace to you! “When you have kids of your own, I will treat them with the same indifference you treated mine,” she said before heading off stage. After that, everyone fell silent, and soon after that, the visitors began to go. I had the worst day ever. Was it my fault?
