Recently, a homeless couple from Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA, gained notoriety for their unusual way of living. The popular TikTok stars Leland Brown Jr. and Breanna have taken the risk of giving up formal employment in favor of a nomadic lifestyle.
While some have expressed support for their independence, others have expressed doubts about their decisions. Instead of calling themselves homeless, the pair, who publicly discusses their existence in a tent on social media, calls themselves “houseless,” emphasizing the survival skills they have honed in their unusual living situation.
Critics have taken issue with their use of the term “houselessness” and their decision to forgo formal work. Some doubt the sincerity of their decisions, arguing that their way of life is more about eschewing accountability than choosing to be homeless.
The couple has started a GoFundMe campaign in an effort to prioritize spending time with Leland Jr.’s son and achieve financial stability. Regretfully, they have only raised $162 of the $10,000 they set out to raise thus far.
There is still some mystery surrounding the couple’s descent into homelessness because there are differing accounts of their background and present situations. Older footage depicts Leland living in a house and working at various places, but more recent remarks show that they are opposed to seeking traditional jobs.
