When you were born, I battled with Death. I cried and couldn’t sleep the nights you were sick. I never had dinner without first feeding you. I went through a great deal of suffering to get you to this point. My kid, how will you pay me back?
Son:
I promise to get a decent career and make a lot of money for you when I grow up so you can experience life’s pleasures.
Mother:
I don’t expect you to do this either; your father is already doing it. I’ll be elderly by the time you start making money and won’t require any material comforts.
Son:
I’ll locate a devout woman and wed her so she can take care of you and prepare meals for you.
Mother:
My son, that is not her responsibility, and you shouldn’t get married for that reason either. She is under no obligation to assist me, and I do not anticipate her doing so. As you travel through this life, your marriage should be a support system and a source of comfort for you.
Son:
Tell me, mom, how I can pay you back then.
Mother:
(crying) Come see me or give me a call often. This is all that a mother needs from you during her lifetime. Next, lend me your shoulder and comfort me when I di3. Please offer up prayers for me whenever you do so. Give to charity on my behalf. Keep in mind that every nice thing you do will help me in the afterlife, so always be kind and good. Every good deed you do returns back to me. My son, will you do it?
Son:
(Sweethes and is unable to talk)
May we all be among those who serve as a source of purification for our parents and a source of coolness in their eyes.
