The internet as a whole conducted a search but was unable to determine what this was. Like 90% of other people, I have no idea what this is either.
Clackers, also known as lik-Klaks, were popular in the 1970s and are today a collector’s item among vintage playthings. Two plastic balls are linked together to form the toy. The balls make a loud “clacking” sound when they swing back and forth.
The toy was developed in 1969 by the toy company Wham-O. The company also manufactures the Superball, Frisbee, and Hula Hoop, three more well-known toys. Toy Clackers were so successful that the manufacturer sold over 10 million of them in their first year of availability.
Later, due to safety concerns, the item was banned in many places. A couple of the plastic balls reportedly cracked, sending parts flying and injuring kids. A safer material version of the toy was later manufactured by the manufacturer, but it never achieved the same degree of appeal as the original.
Enthusiasts and those who recall using Toy Clackers as children still find them appealing. Some people who are lucky enough to own a pair of these ancient toys nevertheless find pleasure in them as a reminder of simpler times.
