Although it is crucial to treat everyone with respect, this doesn’t always happen and can even go catastrophically wrong. One Chick-fil-A blackWhen the consumer saw his order ticket, he was left feeling ashamed and repulsed.

52-year-old Marquise Vanzego was in his native state of Maryland, visiting a Chick-fil-A. On August 23, he went to purchase some dinner, but his order ticket was called out.

He claimed to be placing an order for chicken strips, fries, and an Arnold Palmer at the drive-through while conversing with a “young white male.” Instead than using an intercom, the order was given face-to-face.

He gave the staff member his name, Marquise, in response. He noticed that the phrase “Monkeys” had been entered in place of the guest’s name after they were given the order. For many years, this has been a racial slur directed against Black people.

After noting that it was terrible, Vanzego continues, “It just set me back years.” As Vlack men, we’ve experienced a lot, and it serves as a continual reminder that, just when you believe a situation has healed, another one reopens it.

Additionally, in a letter to Chick-fil-A, he claimed to have expressed his name clearly. Along with sharing it on social media, he posted a video of himself conversing with the store manager.

In the video, the woman expressed her regret and promised to reimburse his dinner. After that, he posted a second video in which he enters the restaurant and says he wants to speak with the staff face-to-face. The other employees indicated he was not capable of doing that.

The owner was then asked by Vanzego if he had ever heard of a person by the name of monkey. He believes that not enough is being done to address the circumstances.

He remarked, “I understand, he’s a young man, he’s 17, he’s still learning,” during an interview on TODAY.

“But he must also understand that actions like that have repercussions.” “When they did things, they had to deal with the consequences,” he says, referring to his own grown children.

Whether this was a racist comment or just an honest error is still up for debate. According to Chick-fil-A, the experience was undesirable and did not live up to their standards.
