The Son of Sonya Massey Explains How He Learned His Mother Was Shot by an Illinois Police Officer

Sonya Massey thought someone was attempting to break into her home, so she called the Illinois police. But on her kitchen floor, Sonya lost her life in response to a request to be heard and protected.

Malachi Hill, her son, is now speaking out about how he learned that she had been shot to death by a police officer.

Speaking with Fox Illinois and other media outlets, Malachi said the police had never gotten in touch with him regarding his mother’s tragic shooting death. Rather, he received a call from the personnel at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, informing him that Sonya Massey had been shot in the eye, with the bullet exiting her neck.

The son of Sonya Massey claimed that the hospital would not identify the shooter but would just say that “someone” had shot her.

But they would never reveal to me who had shot my mother. Additionally, I believe I was the first to find out about it. I had to personally go tell my grandmother. All I can say is that,” said Malachi.

As previously mentioned, Sonya’s father recently expressed on “CBS Mornings” similar feelings to those of his grandchild. James Wilburn claimed he was never informed that the incident involved a deputy.

“We thought that the intruder or another person from the street killed her, and they just went in there and discovered her dead body,” he said. Wilburn added that there was a story circulating that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

As Justin Carter of TSR Investigates previously reported, the 36-year-old passed away in Springfield, Illinois, on July 6. The moment two police officers walked up at Sonya’s house was captured on bodycam film. She invited them into her living room and gave them the runaround.

Sonya went to the kitchen to manage a boiling pot of water after meeting with them in the living room. The tension in the room increased when Officer Sean P. Grayson, one of the cops, began yelling at Sonya to put down the pot or else she would be shot in the face.
